Energy Boosters
Prescription and Non-prescription Energy Boosters
- I highly recommend the book “From Fatigued to Fantastic” written by Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum which I have found the most comprehensive and compelling book written about this subject. In it he talked about most of the energy boosters in detail including the scientific basis for each; when (or what for) and how it is to be used. In his book is an extensive list of reputable resources including reliable and trustworthy manufacturers of both widely used energy boosters and those that are not so well known and pricey ones that may only be purchased directly from the manufacturers or distributors.
- There are countless products out there being marketed as “energy drinks” or “energy boosters”.
- Especially for those with chronic fatigue issues , the “natural energy boosters”are most highly recommended. In many cases consulting with holistic practitioners or resorting to alternative treatments may be needed to achieve complete recovery from fatigue.
- Holistic physicians, for example would prescribe thyroid hormonal replacement for those with unrelenting chronic fatigue even though their blood tests may be normal. Thyroid hormone is of course one of our body’s major natural energy booster. The following is an excerpt from Dr. Teitelbaum’s CFS/FMS Treatment Protocol about this very thing.
“Thyroid supplementation - several studies show that thyroid therapies can be very helpful in CFIDS/FMS - even if your blood tests are normal. This treatment is, however, very controversial - even though it’s usually very safe. All treatments (even aspirin) can cause problems in some people though. ” Read more…
- In fact, the SHINE Treatment Protocol developed by Dr. Teitelbaum demonstrates clearly how holistic physicians treat those with chronic fatigue differently compared to conventional doctors who only use traditional (FDA approved) treatments and usually based on standards that include abnormal physical or laboratory findings. This treatment protocol lists the prescription medications as well over the counter the herbs and supplements plus other naturopathic remedies or treatment methods commonly used in CFS and Fibromyalgia treatment. Many items in the protocol, maybe considered energy boosters as well becasue they treat the causes of underlying fatigue.

Do I need multivitamins?
Everyone needs to be taking just multivitamins which usually also contains minerals in them. But for a variety of reasons in order to achieve or maintain wellness, one also needs additional supplements. We all know that life expectancy has increased significantly. In order to delay onset of degenerative illnesses, it would be wise to self-educate and apply or take the proven safe and effective evidence-based measures or supplements as early in life as possible before the onset of chain of adverse events that can lead to acute and chronic diseases that may potentially lead to financial hardships later. It is best to invest on some preventive methods now.
For those who may already be suffering from chronic, recurring or degenerative illnesses already, there may be natural remedies tha can delay progression of the disease or lead to cure (full and lasting recovery) ; the sooner the tretment is started the better is the prognosis.
Most people will agree that because we live in a toxic world, we all need to be taking some form of nutritional supplements like multivitamins and minerals to combat the ill effects of the toxins to our well- being.
It is also a well known fact that the top soil over most of the land used to grow fruits and vegetables is very depleted. This in turn produces crops that are severely low in the necessary vitamins and mineral that our bodies need for optimum health. Read more…
Those two are only two of the reasons to support the argument that we all need to be taking a carefully considered combination of nutritional supplements which include multivitamins, multiminerals, immune support and antioxidants among other things. Just as we make sure to change the different fluids or oils in our car to prevent its premature breakdown, we also need to be doing some regular maintenance of our systems: detoxing or cleansing or lowering the acidity of our body fluids (which leads to sufficient delivery of oxygen to our tissues and cells). Sometimes significant irreversible damages may have already happened due to lack of oxygen and excess acidity and toxins, that oxygen supplementation may now be necessary. Scroll down to see other reasons why additional supplements may be necessary based on symptoms and underlying causes of fatigue.

By now, most people who follow the buzz in health and fitness know about phytochemicals, the nutrients within plants that offer so many healthful benefits. Power Foods not only sings their praises, but divides them into 10 groups–red, yellow, orange fruits; red, yellow, orange vegetables; nuts and seeds; sea vegetables; etc.–and shows how to work them into meal plans so you can derive maximum benefit from them.
