FAQ

Which energy boosters do you recommend?

At the minimum and in general terms:

  • Multivitamins and Minerals containing supplements
  • Essential fatty acids

Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid, and linoleic acid (LA), an omega-6 fatty acid, are considered essential fatty acids because they cannot be synthesized by humans.

Typical Western diets tend to be much higher in omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids.

It is important to take these two fats in the proper ratio as well. Omega-6 fatty acids compete with omega-3 fatty acids for use in the body, and therefore excessive intake of omega-6 fatty acids can be a problem. The U.S. diet has become heavy in omega-6 fats and low in omega-3 fats, secondary to a reliance on processed foods and oils. It is necessary to balance this by eating a low-fat diet that is low in processed foods and with fat mainly coming from omega-3 fatty acids.

  • Omega-6 Fatty Acids

Linoleic Acid: Food sources of LA include vegetable oils, such as soybean, safflower and corn oil, nuts, seeds and some vegetables. Dietary surveys in the US indicate that the average adult intake of LA ranges from 12-17 g/day for men and 9-11 g/day for women

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA): Flaxseeds, walnuts, and their oils are among the richest dietary sources of ALA. Canola oil is also an excellent source of ALA. Dietary surveys in the US indicate that average adult intakes for ALA range from 1.2-1.6 g/day for men and from 0.9-1.1 g/day for women.

Oily fish are the major dietary source of EPA and DHA which are

Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)

The typical Western diet is relatively deficient in omega-3 fatty acids compared to the diets of our ancestors. The main dietary sources of EPA in the United States are cold water fish, such as wild salmon. Fish oil supplements may also raise concentrations of EPA in the body. Increased intake of EPA has been shown to be beneficial in coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and inflammatory disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)

It is found in cold water fatty fish and in fish oil supplements, along with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). There are also vegetarian sources of DHA, which come from seaweed. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease. Our bodies naturally produce small amounts of DHA, but we must get the amounts we need from our diet or from supplements. Most people in the Western world do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids in their diet.

Additional  Supplements or Health and Wellness Products, most holistic practitioners will agree, are also essential to  serve indirectly or directly as energy boosters in order  to achieve or maintain wellness.

Click on the links below to  read about the causative factors underlying or potentially leading to   fatiguing  or degenerative illnesses if not addressed soon enough.

Indeed educating oneself and applying some of the preventive measures  recommended  sooner than later may delay the onset and /or progression of aging which as we all know too well tend to  increase the risk for cardiovascular, Diabetes Mellitus, Dementia, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, risk of falls and fracture just to name some, which could in turn lead to major financial challenges or hardship. It would be wise to invest now on prevention rather than face the potentially  costlier consequences. Especially with bleak forecast about the social security and health care benefits for our older population possibly even made closer now  by the current economic trends.

The article about each of the following factors will contain the corresponding health and wellness product/s recommended by many reputable  health and wellness gurus.

  • How does one compare multivitamins. Is there any available system of rating for multivitamins?

There are or there maybe but I find it hard to believe that there would be unbiased ratings of multivitamins. I suggest that you review the products featured here and then make your decision one way or another.  For instance Juice+ boasts that their products backed by scientific studies  cannot and should not be called multivitamins because of the way their products are being processed.  Read why….It has a wealth of clinical research published and ongoing as well as endorsements by respectable health care practitioners that  lend credibility to the benefits derived from their products.

Veriunni and LHN have more products than Juice+ and their products tend maybe similar (if not identical)  in some cases or  have the same target symptoms or  uses. I say read the product descriptions,  compare and then decide which to try first. When I treat my patients  with conventional medications, we sometimes have to try more than one medication before we found the one that works and is well-tolerated. Same thing may be said here.

  • How will I know which multivitamin is right for me? What factors need to be considered when choosing a multivitamin?

Again it will depend on how you respond to the ones you try.  You stay with the one that makes you feel better and does not  give you unpleasant effects. There’s not one brand that is good for everybody.  If you read the book by Harvard-educated Dr. Hallowell, the AD/HD expert who has the condition himself, he decided to be on three different kinds he was recommended because of the compelling scientific explanations he was given.

  • What are some of the popular books written about energy boosters?
    • I suggest you browse through the books featured  in this website which are the highly rated ones.  I only feature the ones here  that got very favorable reviews.   Remember that some energy boosters may not be called as such but indirectly they do boost the energy.

LHN, Veriuni and Juice Plus+ nutritional supplements different from those sold at retail stores  contain more  naturally occurring vitamins than your average vitamin supplements and additionally may contain  other phytonutrients, antioxidants, and some other natural health and wellness promoting components— even some of the fiber — found in the fruits and vegetables it’s made from. These nutrients work together in combination to provide you more of the nutritional benefits of eating healthful whole foods. Read more…

  • Why feature three direct marketers of  nutritional supplements here?
    • Because as mentioned above,  one brand does not work for everybody. It is not a “one size fits all” type of deal. Especially for people who have chronic fatigue with or without Fibromyalgia that tend to have multiple allergies or sensitivities, they may need to try several brands until they find the one /s that suit/s them well. Besides the three companies sell products that the others don’t. In my case, I ended up using products of the three companies, which I get at wholesale price by being a member.
    • By the way,   depending on which product/s worked the best for you you may want to become a distributor for any one or all of the above. It is called multiple streams of internet income. Doing so  may not only offset the cost of the product you take but may also lead to unlimited income potential.Of course, a very convincing and personal testimonial will be one’s greatest asset as a marketer.
    • Considering the millions and millions of potential clients with chronic fatigue to pay it forward through the magic of the world wide web you will be able to help other overcome fatigue all over the world as the above companies have international reach (with LHN and SFI or Veriuni being actually global at this point). Which means your business will be  your  running 24/7 even while you are sleeping…. well just do the math.
  • What if I am not interested in the business aspect  of the above companies, do I still sign up for membership?

Each of the above will have different policy  with regards to qualifying for qualifying for wholesale or distributor’s price. But from all three, you can certainly buy the products with no expectation on your part to sell their products. Your cost will just  be higher. But if your monthly order is enough to qualify for  wholesale or distributor’s price, might as well sign up for membership if optional. You will need to go to their websites to read their terms and do what you think is best for you. What is important is that you are being helped to stay or get well.

  • Are there free trial samples for any of the products   featured here?
  • Are there any similar products  sold by retailers that may just be as good?
    • I’m sure there are. You just have to be careful because the supplements are not really as monitored and standardized like the prescription drugs. Ask your holistic practitioner,  local Health and Wellness store for recommendations or friends and relatives who may be happy with the products they are on. I would even even caution the reader to do background research of the company like how long they have been around (AT LEAST FIVE YEARS) have  evidence-based studies endorsing the particular supplement/s and most importantly read what the leading  Health and Wellness experts are saying.   The following  brands of  Health and Wellness products  are available in retail stores which were chosen because they were classified as natural.
